Perched at the mouth of the Russian River with sweeping views of the Sonoma Coast, Mann Ranch is a certified organic operation raising grass-fed and finished beef. Mark’s family has stewarded these coastal grasslands for seven generations, blending time-honored practices with innovative technologies. Cattle are moved to fresh grazing grounds using virtual fence collars alongside traditional herding on horseback. This rotational grazing not only produces nutrient-dense meat but also preserves habitat for native flora and fauna, keeping the ecosystem vibrant and resilient.

Visitors to Mann Ranch experience the edge of California in a way that engages all the senses—sights, sounds, and scents of the coast, the rhythm of the land, and the stories of those who work it. Doniga Markegard, a longtime OITF host, leads guests through the ranch with insight and warmth. Now spending much of her time astride a horse, training for the world’s longest and toughest horse race—the Mongol Derby in Mongolia—she brings tales of adventure, perseverance, and life lived close to the land.
