We did our first OITF event in New Orleans way back in 2005. It was just after Hurricane Katrina, and we set our petite table in a tiny greenhouse across the street from a collapsed house to benefit the non-profit Parkway Partners.

Cassi Dymond and Chef Melissa M. Martin are the co-owner team behind the newly opened Saint Claire space on the west bank of the Mississippi River. Melissa is best known for her Cajun restaurant, Mosquito Supper Club, where she serves food indicative of her Cajun Roots. At Saint Claire, the partners wanted to create a refuge for weary city dwellers in of Orleans. Saint Claire’s menu is comfort food at its best, nothing fussy. 

At the helm of the field kitchen is chef de cuisine of Mosquito Supper Club & Saint Claire, Camille Cook. Camille is as comfortable serving family style Cajun food at Mosquito as she is plating French country food at Saint Claire. What both restaurants have in common is their commitment to local food and farmers. they plan to showcase that at Outstanding in the Field. 

Originally built in 1913 under the name 'Camp Algiers', the history of the site and building that Saint Claire now calls home is undeniable to its wider community. Operating as a hospital, military base and later as a school these grounds have had many stories both remembered and forgotten embedded into its foundation. It is here, that we will be setting our table.

Joining us at the table and on the plate will be Estelle Lemmler of Fat Cat Farm and Nathan Herring of Bright Side Oysters. We look forward to having a taste of their story as we celebrate bayou bonhomie among the sheltering oaks. Together, we honor the land, the stories, and the people who make these moments possible—reminding us that even after the storm, community and cuisine thrive.

Purchase Policy

Due to the nature of the events, no refunds or credits will be given if the Participant is unable to attend. However, tickets can be transferred to someone else. Please contact us at reservations@outstandinginthefield.com with the new guest’s information at least 24 hours prior to the event, or tell the guests using your reservation to give your name at arrival. Transferring funds for your tickets is your responsibility.
