We return to the storied grounds of Storm King to set our iconic table in the company of massive sculptures set amidst acres of manicured meadows and forested woodlands. Following a reception on a hilltop overlooking the art installations, we will stroll down the hill to the table below.
Known for his mastery of the wood-fired hearth, Chef Rafiq Salim will bring his art-de-cuisine to the field kitchen among the sculptures. After training with some of the industry’s most celebrated chefs, Rafiq earned national recognition in 2023, when he was named a StarChefs New York Rising Star. This year, he’s been named a semifinalist for the James Beard Award for Best Chef: New York State, further cementing his reputation as one of the region’s most exciting culinary talents.
Rafiq joined us for a memorable event last year in New York City on Governors Island. It was a very windy day, and we made a mid-event adjustment—swapping a view of the Statue of Liberty for One World Trade Center—by moving the table to a more sheltered site a hundred yards away. We love a chef who’s up for a little adventure.
