“Salt of the earth” means a person or group that is genuine, unpretentious, honest, and hardworking. At Outstanding in the Field, our task is to seek out individuals who embody this credo. While that is certainly true, in this case, we are also after the literal salt.
St. Clair, Michigan is home to the salt used by chefs across the country. There is no ingredient more essential to culinary success. You could say St. Clair is its own kind of flavor town. Here, we’ll take time to recognize the invention of the Alberger method of crystal salt-making, which began in this region more than 140 years ago.
Chef Javier Bardauil champions the cuisine of Argentina. His approach centers on authentic, open-fire cooking, using a wood-burning grill and oven to create flame-kissed dishes that are both rustic and refined. Deeply influenced by his time working with Francis Mallmann, Bardauil focuses on raw, seasonal ingredients—highlighting fire-roasted meats and vegetables that honor his Buenos Aires roots and Argentina’s rich culinary traditions.

Purchase Policy
Due to the nature of the events, no refunds or credits will be given if the Participant is unable to attend. However, tickets can be transferred to someone else. Please contact us at reservations@outstandinginthefield.com with the new guest’s information at least 24 hours prior to the event, or tell the guests using your reservation to give your name at arrival. Transferring funds for your tickets is your responsibility. In the case of an event being postponed due to circumstances beyond Outstanding in the Field’s control, Outstanding in the Field will reschedule said event and all purchases will be honored for the rescheduled future event date.
