Just as the farm-to-table movement brings us closer to the people and places sthat nourish our communities, the emerging farm-to-closet movement does the same with clothing— a favorite sweater or pair of socks carries a special kind of warmth when you know the who, where, and how behind it.
The Fibershed Learning Center at Black Mountain Ranch provides education, demonstration, and hands-on experiences with regional natural fiber and dye producers. Our stroll around the property begins at the property’s historic barn, built in 1870, before moving on to witness how climate-beneficial fiber and fashion come to life. Guests will explore the ranch’s vibrant dye garden and natural dye pavilion, and meet the flock of conservation sheep whose wool is transformed into textiles right on the property.
We are pleased to welcome Chef Seth Stowaway for his second appearance at Black Mountain Ranch. Known for his soulful, fire-driven cooking, Seth will craft a menu that blends Northern California’s seasonal bounty with Latin American and Southern influences.

Purchase Policy
Due to the nature of the events, no refunds or credits will be given if the Participant is unable to attend. However, tickets can be transferred to someone else. Please contact us at reservations@outstandinginthefield.com with the new guest’s information at least 24 hours prior to the event, or tell the guests using your reservation to give your name at arrival. Transferring funds for your tickets is your responsibility. In the case of an event being postponed due to circumstances beyond Outstanding in the Field’s control, Outstanding in the Field will reschedule said event and all purchases will be honored for the rescheduled future event date.
