Our hosts John and Halee Wepking met at one of New York’s finest (and one of our favorite) restaurants, Prune. Food brought them together, and they’ve brought that passion to their own fields of grain in John’s home state of Wisconsin. In addition to farming 1,000 certified organic acres of grain and grass-fed cattle, John and Halee operate the Meadowlark Community Mill, which purchases regionally grown grains from other organic farmers in the Driftless Area to produce thousands of pounds of flour weekly. If you’re a baker – or enjoy eating anything made with flour – you’ll have a lot to savor here. Since it opened in 2021, Birch has become a favorite in our sojourns across Wisconsin. No wonder Chef Kyle was nominated as "Outstanding Chef" by the James Beard Foundation in 2022.

Purchase Policy
Due to the nature of the events, no refunds or credits will be given if the Participant is unable to attend. However, tickets can be transferred to someone else. Please contact us at reservations@outstandinginthefield.com with the new guest’s information at least 24 hours prior to the event, or tell the guests using your reservation to give your name at arrival. Transferring funds for your tickets is your responsibility. In the case of an event being postponed due to circumstances beyond Outstanding in the Field’s control, Outstanding in the Field will reschedule said event and all purchases will be honored for the rescheduled future event date.
